Mike brings 35 years of experience to Cornerstone. His perspective marries fundamental research and portfolio management expertise with practical experience implementing investment systems, accounting automation, and designing investment strategies spanning multiple asset classes.
Mike spent the first seven years of his career at Mercer Investment Consulting where he was a Senior Analyst and Consultant. Mike spent the next three years at Society Asset Management as a Senior Analyst, spending time on the bond trading desk focused on municipal credit analysis, and then moved to equity research.
Mike’s next 20 years were spent as a Principal at Gofen and Glossberg, LLC. His clients included wealthy executives, multi-generational families, foundations, and professional associations, many of which had assets exceeding $1 billion. His equity research responsibilities included Technology, Energy, and Financial Services. He built the firm’s corporate bond solvency models and ultimately lead the firm’s fund and alternative investments research efforts.
In addition, he led the adoption and implementation of portfolio accounting, trading, and performance measurement systems. Performance attribution and asset allocation were his responsibility, and he managed the firm’s composite process.
Mike lives in the far northern suburbs of Chicago with his wife of over 30 years, Mary Ann. They have been active in animal rescue for decades and currently host a menagerie of fur and scale babies in their home. He graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in Economics, has an MBA from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst®.
